The one room is cheaply furnished, with a pretence of some modern pieces. The bed is placed to the center back of the room, between a door and window, instead of in its usual corner. The dresser is at the extreme left, a library table is in the center fronts, and a few chairs scattered about complete the furnishings.Mrs. Alinsky has just received the body of her husband, who has been killed in one of the large packing houses. His remains have been placed on a cot in a corner to the right, in front of a window. The awe-stricken wife has placed some chairs before the body and draped a shawl over the backs of them, so that the children will not see the horror of death.Mrs. Alinsky [sitting on a chair with her head buried in her hands].
